centromere: A region on a chromosome where sister chromatids are attached.
chromatin: The mixture of DNA and protein that comprises eukaryotic nuclear chromosomes.
chromosome: A filamentous structure in the cell nucleus, mitochondria, and chloroplasts, along which the genes are located.
chromatids: A single chromosomal strand.
metaphase plate: A region of the cell along which chromosomes align during mitosis.
microtubules: Part of the cytoskeleton which is present in the form of along, hollow structure composed of the protein tubulin.
